CLA Welcomes New Staff Attorney

Please join us in welcoming Rachael Arora as CLA’s new Staff Attorney! Rachael started her law career as an Assistant Public Defender at the Charleston County Public Defender’s Office. There she assisted clients in all aspects of criminal litigation. During her time at the PD’s office, Rachael was selected to be a part of the Gideon’s Promise Class of 2018. Gideon’s Promise is a national program committed to transforming the criminal justice system by training young public defenders to provide equal justice for marginalized communities. Rachael is excited to be a part of the Charleston Legal Access team and is committed to providing access to equal justice to those of low and modest means in the Lowcountry.

Charleston Legal Access is Charleston's first nonprofit, sliding-scale law firm. We do not provide free legal services, but we will work at a price that those of moderate means can afford. Hourly rates are determined on an individual basis by a client's income and family size. Our initial screening and phone consultations with an attorney are completely free. In-person, 1-2 hour case consultations and limited assistance sessions are available for a flat fee of $50-$100.
